Gareth specialises in the identification of contaminated sites and their subsequent remediation, management, redevelopment and safe use. These services relate to evaluating the condition of land and water from contaminated land assessments, hazardous materials assessments, asbestos management, resource consent assistance and due diligence assessments prior to mergers or acquisitions.
Gareth’s project experience has allowed him to diversify and expand his risk assessment abilities into the fields of landfill gas risk assessment as well as the evaluation of a sites compliance with the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms (HSNO) legislation in New Zealand.
“Coming from Yorkshire, I like finding ways to save money and dislike it being wasted, especially when it’s not my own. Therefore, I enjoy the problem solving aspect of our industry and not always reverting to the simple remedial solution of dig and dump. I also really enjoy preserving our environment and preventing further contamination and where possible improving it for future generations. As ENGEO is a relatively young company in New Zealand, I look forward to further establishing ourselves and becoming more well known in all the markets that we operate.”
Outside of work Gareth loves seeing his two young boys enjoy themselves whether its hunting for crabs at the beach, playing Lego ninjas or climbing trees. He is also a massive Sheffield Wednesday fan and a keen cyclist.
